BAW chip maker SMEI refused rumors of Huawei entering top 10 shareholders

With the breakthrough of new technologies, the online community continues to come up with new rumors including the latest one, which claims that Huawei has become one of the top 10 shareholders in China’s BAW RF filter maker – SMEI AKA Sai Microelectronics.

However, SMEI has issued a statement on this matter, saying it has received no notice and neither has Huawei as the top 10 shareholders in the company.

According to the information, Beijing Sai Microelectronics was founded on May 15, 2008, and it was listed on Shenzhen Stock Exchange on May 14, 2015.

Recently, it came into discussion with the announcement of achieving mass production of WAF RF filters. BAW provides a lower resistance and prevents resonators from overheating. BAW exhibits very few frequency shifts, making it ideal for 5G applications that are prone to self-heating due to higher transmit power.

The tech company is thinking of processing this technology in different phases and reaching to a more mature mass production. It’s also said that Huawei could be the biggest customer of the BAW RF filter sold by SMEI but there’s no official confirmation on this matter.
