Baidu Maps now supports HarmonyOS 2.0, teases launch of HarmonyOS smartwatch
Baidu’s mapping service, Baidu Maps now officially announced supports for HarmonyOS 2.0. This new cooperation between Huawei and Baidu will bring a seamless navigation system that can be shared from smartphones to the smartwatch. However, Baidu has not yet revealed much of the information about this navigation system or a list of eligible devices.
Last week, Huawei unveiled Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro equipped with a new titanium design, inbuilt GPS and wireless charging. An official from Huawei also confirmed that the Watch GT 2 Pro will launch with HarmonyOS 2.0 in China, compared to its global version with LiteOS.
According to a previous report, Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro will support distributed technology features such as screen sharing. This will allow Watch GT 2 Pro to work as a secondary or mirror display for the connected smartphone.
It’s also informed that the new navigation system will show the complete route on the watch itself for both walking and riding a bicycle. The OS will also enhance the battery life of these devices.
Aside from Baidu maps, there could be more maps services including Tencent Maps will join the list of HarmonyOS support later this year.
