It seems like Google’s ban is creating more difficulties for Huawei compared to the US’s because mobile carriers in the Asia region are now showing signs of restricting Huawei devices.

Google will provide software updates to existing Huawei devices for the next 90 days

According to NikkeiAsisaReview, Japan’s major mobile carriers including Softbank Corp, KDDI, NTT Docomo postponed Huawei smartphones sales, all of these network providers are yet to respond on this delay.

Taiwan’s largest telecom operator, Chunghwa Telecom, told Nikkei Asian Review that it would stop buying new Huawei devices for sales as of now, though it would continue selling existing models already on its shelves.

Another Taiwan’s telecom, Taiwan Mobile, on Wednesday turned away from Huawei, saying that it will sell the current stock of Huawei smartphones but won’t sell any upcoming smartphones that are not supported by Google services.

South Korea’s KT said it is considering to stop the sales of Huawei smartphones and tablets. Moreover, Telkomsel, an Indonesian mobile operator said it’s reviewing the current situation.

This situation would bring worries for Huawei, indicating that most of the mobile carriers started to run away from the company’s devices, which is not because of its security concerns but due to Google’s recent services restriction on Huawei devices.

Most of the mobile carriers who paused sales of Huawei devices said: We want to make sure that our customers get security and version software support with the devices (from Google).

This scenario created after the US Commerce Department added business restrictions on Huawei, which dragged Google to also put an end on its services to Huawei phones including software updates support and now the company has resumed its services to existing devices for next 90 days.
