April 2021 security update rolling out for Huawei Mate 40 smartphone
Recently, Huawei has sent a software update for Huawei Mate 40 Pro, Pro Plus, and RS Porsche Design, which brought the security patch released in April 2021 that increases device system security.
Now, the company has started sending this security patch for Huawei Mate 40 standard variant. This update fixes several new bugs and vulnerabilities found in the latest software build and provides better system security.
April 2021 security patch details: This security update fixes 17 high and 69 medium levels of CVEs for improved system security.

For more information, Huawei has opened the HarmonyOS 2.0 beta testing slots for Mate 40 series in April 2021. Since then, the smartphones start receiving test software builds via OTA update.
Recently, Huawei has kicked off HarmonyOS 2.0 developer beta 3 for the Mate 40 lineup that comes with huge package size of 0.99GB. It fixes some of the application interface display abnormalities, known issues and optimizes system stability.
Moreover, Huawei is going to launch HarmonyOS 2.0 for general consumers on June 2 and it was reported the first batch of device to upgrde over HarmonyOS includes the Mate 40, Mate 30, P40 series and Mate X2.

HOW TO UPDATE:
Download via Settings:
- Open Settings
- Click on the System & Updates
- Open Software update
- Tap on Check for updates option
- If an update is available, click on Download and install
- After installation Reboot the device

- Open the Support app on your device
- Go to the Service tab
- Click on the update button
- Tap on Check for update option
- If an update is available, click on Download and install
