Apple and Nokia inks 5G technology agreement
Apple and Nokia have renewed their partnership for 5G technology patent licensing by signing a new agreement. This extension allows Apple to continue to use Nokia’s 5G tech in its iPhones and other devices.
Both firms already signed a multi-year agreement, which is set to expire by the end of this year (2023). The agreement between the two parties remains undisclosed and only 5G tech has been mentioned in the contrast.
Nokia said that the patent charges from Apple are expected to come from January 2024 and nothing has been revealed about the exact deadline for this new agreement signed for 5G technologies.
“We are delighted to have concluded a long-term patent license agreement with Apple on an amicable basis. The agreement reflects the strength of Nokia’s patent portfolio, decades-long investments in R&D, and contributions to cellular standards and other technologies,” said Jenni Lukander, President of Nokia Technologies.
Nokia and Huawei:
Last December, Huawei and Nokia signed an extension agreement, which both of these telecom makers have been doing since 2017. Since then, both companies are cooperating with each other in this segment. Somewhere around, Huawei also signed agreements with Oppo and Samsung.
