Android 16 may let you bundle notifications for cleaner interface
Are you fed up with a messy notification panel? If yes, then Android 16 could help you bundle all notifications into categories. Google is working on a new feature that can save you from the chaotic notification panel and organize them more neatly.
Spotted by Android Authority, Android 16 may bring a useful feature that can bundle notifications in a go. This feature is known as “bundled notifications”.
Just like Gmail, the new feature will automatically organize your notifications by analyzing the content of alerts and the sender. As a result, you get a mess-free interface.
Android already groups notifications that are from the same app. But now you can select certain categories or themes to bundle important notifications. The categories are Promotions, News, Social, and Recommendations. The feature description reads:
“Notifications with similar themes will be silenced and grouped together for a quieter experience. Bundling will override an app’s own notification settings.”
Thus, alerts from all social apps will appear in one section instead of multiple bars on the notification panel. This will offer a clutter-free display interface to users.
If you are a person who doesn’t look at their notification panel regularly, then this tool could be a blessing for you. The feature has currently appeared in the Android 15 QPR2 beta in a hidden way. But it may go live with the Android 16 major update.
Apart from this feature, Google is preparing a “Notifications Cooldown” tool that will help users with repeated notifications. It will automatically slow down the notification ring when many alerts are coming together on the device.
