Google is giving a new makeover to the battery widget with Android 15. The beta 4 update shows colorful changes for the battery segment that will make the battery status and relevant details more precise for users. Let’s check the feature in detail.

Android 15 Beta 4 update brings Material You coloring theme for the battery widget. This feature is showing up for eligible Pixel devices at present. But it may expand to other compatible Android smartphones with a stable software upgrade.

Speaking of the feature, the battery widgets look similar to the past Android versions. Although the change appears in the percentage bars for devices. As of now, it will show a different color for Pixel smartphones, compared to the other devices.

Earlier this color used to remain the same for all device battery status. But now, it displays a distinct shade for Pixel phones based on Material You theming.

For instance, the percentage bar for Pixel Buds or other devices appears in Green Color while the Pixel phone percentage bar reflects a blue shade. This will enable users to easily spot the battery level of their phone among several devices.

Another useful enhancement is for battery cycle count. Note that the battery cycle count feature was only available for Pixel 8a handsets. But now Google is bringing this capability to all eligible Pixel phones. All you have to do is:

  • Go to the Settings app
  • Select the System section
  • Tap on Device Diagnostics
  • Click on Component Health > Battery Status

Here you can check the cycle count that reveals the total number of full charge and discharge times of the device. These new features will soon be available to more users with the stable Android 15 update.
