Android 13/Realme UI 4.0 copied HarmonyOS large folders feature

HarmonyOS is a certified home app screen app management champion that keeps the phone’s screen organized with a feature called large folders. With HarmonyOS 3, Huawei has further taken the concept of large folders and used it to stack phone widgets.

Huawei is a Chinese tech giant and many smartphone makers have taken inspiration from this phone mark including Realme. Hence, its president has recently posted a screenshot on Weibo for the upcoming Realme UI 4.0 large folders feature similar to HarmonyOS.

The screenshots show a folder with the option to enlarge or resemble the app’s insides. Realme is currently testing Realme UI 4.0 based on Android 13, and it has copied large folders from HarmonyOS for sure.

According to the image, the feature of the phone works also in a similar manner, just tap and hold to enable two options “enlarge” or “disband”.

HarmonyOS Large folders:

Large folders can organize apps inside a traditional folder and you can enlarge them. Once enlarged, you can also resize it back to a small size accordingly.

That’s not it, you can tap and launch the app by just tapping on the app icon without opening the folder first. That’s how simple it is. Furthermore, you can reposition these folders anywhere on the home screen with drag-and-drop actions. Isn’t that convenient? Realme is not the only software that has copied this feature, because Oppo has also copied large folders in its Android 13-based ColorOS 13 software.

Large Folders is an amazing feature and it’s good to see that smartphone makers are taking and making new features inspired by the Chinese tech giant. Even after these adaptations, stock Android still lacks such functionality, and so does its favorite Samsung. Furthermore, iOS also doesn’t have the feature.
