Stephen Perry, Chairman of Britain’s 48 Group Club has said that America is going mad at the new Huawei chip. He made these remarks during an interview with China’s state news channel, CCTV.

“We just heard that Huawei produced a new phone with a new chip and America is very mad trying to find out why, where, and how it was made. And I think that is so sad.” Stephen said in an interview clip published by CCTV News on the Chinese social network site – Weibo.

Secret Chip:

On August 29, 2023, Huawei launched the new Mate 60 Pro with a new Kirin chipset. The listing of the phone said nothing about the chip or its processing technology. It is not even mentioned in the specifications.

Later on, a teardown by TechInsights revealed that the phone is carrying a new HiSilicon-made chipset identified as Kirin 9000s. A teardown report from TechInsights went viral online and global media publications spread this story all around the internet.

US Reaction:

A week after its launch, a media reporter asked US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan a question about Huawei. He said that the US government wants to know the composition of this new Huawei chipset.

“I’m going to withhold comment on the particular chip in question until we get more information about precisely its character and composition,” replied Mr. Sullivan.

He also reflected in the statement about the unknown specs of the new Huawei chip.

“In terms of characterizing the chip in question, that’s something that we need to gain more information from before we make any definitive comments on it,” Sullivan added.

On September 21, 2023, U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said that she found no evidence that Huawei could produce advanced chipsets at a large scale.

The continued attention by the US is showing the level of concern about Huawei’s chip achievement.
