After HarmonyOS and iOS, Android to add satellite SMS
Android smartphones could soon get access to satellite SMS feature technology, following the trend set by Huawei HarmonyOS and Apple iOS devices.
According to Wccftech, Android 14 could bring satellite SMS support for Android devices. This feature will first be used in Samsung and Pixel devices. But both of these phone makers have not confirmed this information at the moment.
Last year, Huawei became the first company to unveil Mate 50 series with satellite SMS technology. This feature allows the user to send messages without a mobile network. With the Huawei P60 series, Huawei brought the second generation of satellite SMS with both sending and receiving SMS features.
Later last year, iPhone also joined the race by introducing the Satellite SOS feature with iPhone 14 series.
