Huawei is preparing a new 5G mid-range chipset node to launch next year, according to a tipster related to this matter, suggesting that the company keep on making self-developed chipsets for the upcoming smartphones.

Prominent tipster – DigitalChatStation said that Huawei has a new key node in the Kirin chipset technology and it will come for mid-range devices. DCS also predicts that Huawei smartphones could make a big impact on competing products in the same price range. Although, it’s a piece of interesting information but the name of this chipset remains unknown for the time being.

Huawei Nova series has always been in the center of Huawei’s mid-range phone strategy. And the company kept on launching new smartphones each year even after US sanctions.

Recently, Canalys Research Analyst Lucas Zhong also said that “if Huawei expands the new Kirin chipset into its low-to-mid-range portfolio in the future, it has the potential to disrupt the competitive dynamic among leading vendors,”

The US sanctions led to a shortage of component supplies including the chipset and Huawei brought Nova phones with 4G network access. Now, the situation may change with the Huawei Nova 12 series, which may be the first 5G Nova model since the Huawei Nova 7 5G.

Kirin 9000s:

Huawei silently returned the Kirin chipset alongside the Huawei Mate 60 Pro in August this year. However, refrained from promoting this chip in public or through its conference.

Teardown and phone information app revealed that the phone is using a new advanced Kirin 9000s chipset. Meanwhile, the mystery around its chipset processing node remains in effect.

Huawei stopped producing new flagship Kirin chips after 2020 and called it a halt as it cannot print new chips through the likes of Taiwan’s TSMC. After three years, Huawei seemingly found a solution to print in-house chipset designs. Huawei now has access to the new flagship Kirin chipset and moving toward a new mid-range 5G node would be in focus.
