Huawei 2nd Gen Variable Aperture Camera

Last month, Huawei unveiled its flagship P60 series and is ready to launch the mid-range Nova 11 series. Amid these major developments, we’re witnessing new news about the Huawei Mate 60 series and its 2nd gen variable aperture camera technology.

Huawei Mate 60 series could be a real major upgrade, as a new leak coming from a tipster shows that this phone will use 2nd gen of variable aperture for improved photo quality. The phone will also utilize a large sensor, and optimized periscope zoom, and unveil in the third quarter.

New variable aperture:

The tipster highlights that the Huawei Mate 60 series will use a second generation of variable aperture technology. We don’t have specific insights but it may use more stops than the current version.

According to the information, the variable aperture AKA ultra aperture enables photography in 10 different aperture stops. It ranges from F/1.4 to F/4.0 in P60 Pro. In action, the aperture automatically switches to F1.4 for low-light photography. The F2.0 is for the fine-grained magnificence of the bright landscape, while the F4.0 aperture is for focused portraits and generating depth of field.

Adding more stops or aperture details would be great to see.

Large sensor:

The tipster mentioned that the Huawei Mate 60 series will equip a super large sensor. Once again there aren’t any exact details on this matter but we do have some insights from past reports.

The new Huawei P60 Pro is using SONY IMX888 1/1.43-inch image sensor. Therefore, the Mate 60 would use IMX9 super large sensor. This will be the largest sensor in any Huawei smartphone.

Improved Periscope:

Huawei has the most powerful zoom capability in any flagship. The tipster suggests that Huawei will further optimize telephoto and Periscope with the upcoming Mate device.

The company is already using a new periscope camera structure with multiple lens groups. Beneath the surface, there is an F2.1 large sensor, which intakes 178% more light than P50 Pro. Moreover, the zoom is stabilized and retains all of the details even when you stretch it upto 200X.

Launch date:

There’s one more tip, the revealer insists that Huawei Mate 60 will launch in the third quarter of 2023. Compared to this, Huawei Mate 50 devices were unveiled in the fourth quarter.

Still, there may be some changes in plans, which allow Huawei to conduct an early launch conference. Also, these unveilings are massive but none of these are confirmed by Huawei. So, we’ll patiently wait for the Huawei Mate 60 series.
