Some Huawei Nova 5T users are receiving VoLTE and VoWiFi update
Huawei is rolling out a brand new software update for the Nova 5T global model and it brings new VoLTE and VoWiFi network calling capabilities in some markets.
Although this functionality is available already for some users, Huawei is now expanding VoWiFi and VoLTE features for Nova 5T with EMUI version 12.0.0.176, while the update package size stands at 1.18GB to download.
To reiterate, these networking features may vary depending on carriers and network providers. If you have a Nova 5T smartphone and want to connect these features, first confirm with your service provider for activation.
VoLTE:
VoLTE calls are voice calls made over the 4G LTE network. They have the superior audio quality to regular phone calls made over the standard voice network. VoLTE lets you talk and use 4G LTE data simultaneously and conduct up to six-way conference calls.
VoWiFi:
VoWi-Fi stands for Voice over Wi-Fi and allows you to use telephony services from mobile devices connected across Wi-Fi.
New Security?
Interestingly, the changelog doesn’t mention any other changes such as the February 2023 security patch, which, Nova 5T users are expecting. Meanwhile, the version indicates that it’s an incremental update to December 2022 firmware.
There’s no information available about the Huawei Nova 5T’s next firmware but the latest one is also one of the most important upgrades that you can’t ignore. Yet the rollout could be only available for selected markets.
If you don’t want to wait for a notification, then head towards Settings > tap on System & updates and then tap on Software updates, followed by on-screen instructions.
Thanks for the tip, Omar
