Huawei planning to cut number of jobs at its US subsidiary
Huawei is planning to launch a huge job cut at its facilities in the US, said people familiar to the matter.
U.S. companies may start Huawei sales in two-four weeks
The layoffs are expected to affect jobs at Huawei’s U.S.-based research and development subsidiary Futurewei Technologies, which employs about 850 people in research labs across the US, reported WSJ.
The source also revealed that the layoff could be in hundreds and Huawei’s Chinese employees in the US were being given an option to return to home and stay with the company.
“Some employees have already been notified of their dismissal, while more planned job cuts could be announced soon,” said the source.
The US Commerce Department imposed trade restriction on Huawei in May this year, after that the company reportedly sent back the US citizen working at its Shenzhen headquarter in order to take extra safety measure during the US trade ban.
Currently, the commerce department is making amendments in Huawei trade restriction to allow U.S. firms sales to the company with the help of additional licenses.
