Here are all the rumors and official responses made regarding Huawei’s US restrictions
There are several rumors and media reports that have been circulated online and contains false claims over Huawei’s US restrictions and its future. To counter these rumors Huawei has put them on its website and with a clarification regarding that rumors.
Under the slogan “Huawei Answers” Huawei Germany has set up an official website and come up with a series of rumors that are currently being spread on the media, as the company has also provided an official statement on these false rumors, (via Winfuture).
Rumor 1 – Soon Huawei users have to do without apps like WhatsApp, Facebook or Instagram.
Official Statement:
“All Huawei smartphones and tablets that have already been sold, are currently on sale or in stock, apps like Facebook, WhatsApp or Instagram can be used or downloaded as normal.”
Rumor 2 – If you reset your Huawei smartphone or tablet, you lose access to Android Services and Google Apps.
Official Statement:
“We assure that with Huawei smartphones and tablets you will be able to download and use Android Services and Google Apps as usual after resetting to factory settings.”
Rumor 3 – Soon there will be no more updates for Huawei smartphones.
Official Statement:
“Huawei smartphones and tablets that have been sold, are currently on sale or in stock will continue to receive security and software updates.”
Rumor 4 – Android is automatically uninstalled on Huawei smartphones.
Official Statement:
“No, the operating system will not be uninstalled.”
Rumor 5 – The current situation affects the warranty of Huawei devices.
Official Statement:
“Huawei’s user rights and the Huawei warranty are not affected by the current situation and we will continue to provide the best possible service.”
Rumor 6 – Smartphones from Huawei are soon only good for telephoning.
Official Statement:
“HUAWEI Smartphones and Tablets, which are currently on the market, can be used as usual with all functions.”
Rumor 7 – Huawei will soon no longer sell smartphones.
Official Statement:
“Huawei will continue to sell smartphones. In addition, we will continue to invest in research and development to offer our users even better products.”
These rumors are generated after the US commerce department added Huawei into its trade blacklisting barring the company from doing business with American firms including Google, Facebook and other, as Huawei’s current services resumed on temporary license provided by the commerce department.
