December 2021 security update available for Honor 20 smartphone

Honor 20 running on Magic UI 4.0 is receiving a new software update that installs a security patch released in December 2021. This latest Magic UI update enhances the system security by fixing exploits and issues found in the system.

According to the information, the December 2021 update for Honor 20 arrived with Magic UI version 11.0.0.1884 (C675E3R1P4) in India. However, it comes with a software update package size of 199MB.

Besides the security improvement, the new Honor 20 changelog doesn’t have any other changes made to the system. The December 2021 security patch fixes  2 critical, 15 high, and 38 medium levels of CVEs in the system as well as 29 CVEs in third-party libraries.

Is Honor 20 eligible for EMUI 12?

The Chinese counterpart of Honor 20 is currently running on HarmonyOS 2.0 software system while the global variant is on Magic UI 4. To be mentioned, the Honor 20 series is performing well with the HarmonyOS system, which means these smartphones have capabilities to support the latest softwares.

So, it is expected that soon or later these smartphones will get the hands-on new OS but we’ll have to wait for an official confirmation. However, EMUI 12 beta testing is just started so it may some time to reach old smartphones.

Before upgrading to the latest version, Honor 20 users, we recommend you to take a backup of your important data to prevent data loss. However, the update doesn’t erase your data but it’s good to take a backup. Also, maintain enough battery and storage on your device.

3. Tap Software update
4. Tap Check for Updates
5. Download and Install
6. Install
