Huawei will not give up on smartphone business: Says Huawei

Huawei rotating chairman, Guo Ping said that the company will survive and will not give up on its smartphone business. This is great enthusiasm and an answer in the face of current supply chain difficulties.

Huawei will continue to exist in the field of smartphones. The Chinese tech giant will continue to research and enhance capabilities to reclaim the smartphone business throne.

These latest remarks of the top Huawei official came during a meeting with employees entitled “Meeting a b Better Self in the Great Turn of History”. Ping mentioned that the Huawei car business is another business and Huawei doesn’t build cars but helps automakers to manufacture good cars.

Huawei will not develop real estate but make whole-house smart and connected house solutions powered by the HarmonyOS system.

Back in May 2019, Huawei was added to the U.S. Entity List, which prohibits the company from accessing American-made goods and technologies including the use of chipsets.

Following the U.S. sanctions, Huawei phones face severe technology supplies issues. Aside from the required sub-components, the Chinese tech maker can design chipsets but it cannot print them on the face of the U.S. ban.

Ping added Huawei and its partners in the industry chain are still tackling key issues.

Huawei smartphone business has been affected, but it has achieved great development in various aspects such as whole-house intelligence, audio, display equipment, sports, and health.

According to Ping, Huawei has established a connection with the world’s largest industry. Automotive is the second largest industry in the world, and Huawei provides value-added ICT components for automakers.

Chip Business:

Guo Ping said that the 2012 Chip lab has made a huge contribution to Huawei’s competitiveness in the past 20 years. There are many difficulties but Huawei will continue to invest.

At the same time, Ping also revealed that Huawei will also use its own capabilities to help partners in the industry chain to enhance their own capabilities, break obstacles and establish a reliable supply chain.
