Samsung launched two new foldable phones – Galaxy Z fold 3 and Z Flip 2

On August 11, Samsung lifted the veil off its next-gen foldable devices in the fourth Galaxy Unpacked event of the year. Samsung’s next chapter in the foldable innovation includes – the Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G and Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G.

With the launch, these smartphones became the world’s first waterproof foldable phones with IPX8 ratings. Although it’s noted that it’s not the iP68 Water and Dust resistant. Moreover, they also have several improvements over the previous generation.

The South Korean company also launched several other products such as the Galaxy Watch 4, Watch 4 Classic, Galaxy Buds 2, Buds Go, and two new S-Pen. The event also introduced us to the next iteration of its custom skin – One UI 3.1.1.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G is launched carrying Samsung’s latest innovative technologies. It comes with several newly added features and a complete design revamp over the previous Galaxy Z Fold 2.

It comes with a relatively bigger cover display, an improved design, and the support of an S-Pen. This new foldable phone can be owned in three different color options – Phantom Black, Phantom Green, and Phantom Silver.

Specifications:

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 sports a 7.6-inch AMOLED Infinity Flex foldable display with (UDC) Under Display Camera. The display has a resolution of 2208 x 1768 pixels with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and an ultra-thin glass layer for protection.

While the cover display is 6.2-inch 120Hz AMOLED with 2268 x 832 pixels with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. It is powered by the Snapdragon 888 processor and paired with 12GB RAM along with 256GB/512GB internal storage with UFS 3.1.

The foldable equips a triple rear camera setup including a 12MP ultra-wide camera (f/2.2 aperture), a 12MP wide-angle camera (Dual Pixel AF, OIS, F/1.8), and a 12MP Telephoto lens (PDAF, f/2.4, OIS).

The cover display equips a 10MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture and it also has a 4MP Under Display Camera with f/1.8 aperture.

The device packs a 4400mAh battery with support for a 25W fast charge, it also has 10E wireless charging and a 4.5W reverse wireless charging option. For security purposes, there’s a fingerprint scanner on the power button on the sides.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G

Samsung’s other innovation is the Galaxy Z FLip 5G, a clamshell phone. Just like the Galaxy Z Fold 3, this flip phone has also faced several changes and improvements over the previous generation.

It comes with an IPX8 rating for water and dust resistance, a new and improved design, more attractive color options, a bigger cover display, and more.

Specifications

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G has a 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X (22:9) Infinity Flex Display with 2640 x 1080 resolution. The smartphone features a 120Hz refresh rate with 1200 nits of peak brightness.

The cover display includes a 1.9-inch Super AMOLED screen with 260 x 512-pixel resolution. The device measures a72.2 x 86.4 x 17.1mm in the folded state, while 72.2 x 166.0 x 6.9mm when unfolded.

In terms of camera, it has a 12MP+12MP rear camera setup including a wide-angle lens (Dual Pixel AF, OIS, f/1.8) and an ultra-wide-angle camera (f/2.2). In the front, it has a 10MP selfie camera (f/2.4).

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is powered by the Snapdragon 888 SoC and paired with 8GB RAM along with a 128/256GB storage option. Under the hood, it has a 3300mAh battery with the same 25W charging as the Z Fold 2.

This handset comes pre-installed with Android 11 and is available in three color options as Green Lavender, and Phantom Black, it also has three custom colors like Grey, Pink, and White.
