May 2021 security update out for Huawei Mate Xs [Global]

Huawei has started expanding the May 2021 security update for Huawei Mate Xs folding smartphone launched in the global market. However, the Mate Xs Chinese variant already received this patch last month.

According to the information, the Huawei Mate Xs May 2021 update comes with EMUI 11 version 11.0.0.183 upgraded from base version 11.0.0.175 (C432E2R2P1). To be mentioned, it comes with an updated package size of 317MB in Europe.

What’s improved with May 2021 security patch?

The May 2021 security update fixes different levels of exploits and issues including  3 critical, 10 high, and 4 medium levels of CVE for improved system security.

Important update notes:

• The device must have a better battery backup to install this update that is a minimum of 50%.
• It’s compulsory to check your storage availability (Internal/External SDcard) to download the latest update as per the size required
• A strong WiFi/mobile data connection is required for a buffer-free download of the package. 

How to download Huawei Mate Xs May 2021 update:

Download via Settings:

• Open Settings
• Click on the System & Updates
• Open Software update
• Tap on Check for updates option
• If an update is available, click on Download and install
• After installation Reboot the device

Download via Support app:

• Open the Support app on your device
• Go to the Service tab
• Click on the update button
• Tap on Check for update option
• If an update is available, click on Download and install
• After installation Reboot the device

HarmonyOS 2.0 for Huawei Mate Xs global variant:

At the moment, Huawei HarmonyOS 2.0 beta testing is underway in mainland China. However, the global HM OS beta program plan is still awaited.

Talking about Huawei Mate Xs, this smartphone is currently under the HarmonyOS 2.0 closed beta testing in China and selected beta testers have started enjoying the new feature.
