Celia Voice Assistant rolling out for old Huawei smartphones: PSA
Phones launched before the Huawei Mate 30 series launched with an Android-based EMUI software system but also with Google Mobile Services (GMS) as well as Google apps such as Gmail, Youtube, Google Maps, Google Assitant, and more.
Post Google and Huawei separation, Huawei has to leave Google’s domain and bring its own mobile services on the front called – Huawei Mobile Services (HMS). This includes Huawei’s own suite of apps including the Huawei AI Voice also known as Celia voice assistant.
Huawei AI Voice was initially introduced with EMUI 10.1 on the Huawei P40 series, later the software was made available on other flagships such as Mate 30 series, which was launched solely on HMS.
So, to increase the reach, Huawei is installing this smart voice assistant to more devices and wants to send it to old models as much as possible.
Therefore, it’s sending a new software update for smartphones that carries AI Voice Assistant along with the new Huawei apps.
Celia:
Celia is a virtual speech recognition app built for Huawei devices to work as a virtual mobile assistant. It is designed to trigger by saying “Hey Celia” or hold the power button for one second to launch.
Availability on different models:
The latest software update with Celia voice Assistant is rolling out in batches for different devices and its availability will further expand to more models in the future. Therefore, we recommend you check for the software update section.
