Huawei will continue doing smartphone business and the chip problem will be solved: CBG Software Chief
Since 2020, Huawei is facing a lot of difficulties because it was barred to do business with American companies. These sanctions were put on the basis of false national security threat allegation by the Trump government to destroy the Chinese tech giant.
This restriction much affects the Huawei business from buying smartphone components to production. It results in a delay in shipping new models. Currently, the company has a shortage of chipsets but reserved a limited number for the upcoming flagship lineup.
As recently, Wang Chenglu, President of Huawei’s Consumer Business Software Department in his interview with the Chinese Media, disclosing many details about HarmonyOS (Hongmeng OS) and also verified some information regarding the Huawei smartphone business and current outage of the chipset.
During the interview, Wang confirmed that Huawei’s mobile phone business will definitely continue to exist and that the supply of high-end chips will eventually be solved, including reserves, which will not be sold out all at once.
Additionally, he said the development of HarmonyOS done in the past two years is appreciatable. At the moment, we have still had hundreds of millions of Huawei smartphone users. If the existing models after upgrading to HarmonyOS experience good then no issue. Otherwise, Huawei’s phone pullout from the markets, which helps the company to reuses its hardware.
Wang Chenglu is optimistic because, in the past ten years, the progress of various industries in China has been beyond imagination. Many things that could not be produced earlier can be manufactured today, such as high-end mobile phones, flexible screens, and so on.
On the other hand, Wang also throws light on whether “HarmonyOS is a copy of Android”.He added not all Android code is developed by Google, most of the code comes from the open-source community. Hongmeng OS will also use the excellent technology and code strength of the community.
