Huawei’s new patent reveals VR display technology for head mounted devices

On April 28, 2017, Huawei has registered for patent Head-mounted display content capture and sharing, which was passed on February 2021 under publications number CN109076165B in China.

The patent document describes the virtual reality goggles include a goggle-shaped main body on which multiple cameras are installed. The display is supported by a goggles-shaped main body and extends between the sides of the goggle-shaped main body and includes a plurality of cameras.

The circuit receives video by connecting multiple cameras, where the video includes a synthetic field of view around the goggles about 360 degrees, and the circuit sends the received video to a networked processing service and from a wireless communication device by connecting to a wireless communication device.

The networked processing service receives the stereoscopic 3D virtual reality video, and the circuit also provides the received spliced stereoscopic 3D virtual reality video for display through further connection.

For those who were unaware of VR headsets, it is a head-mounted device that provides virtual reality for the wearer. Virtual reality (VR) headsets are widely used with video games but they are also used in other applications, including simulators and trainers.
