EMUI 11 vs EMUI 10.1: Changes on Volume and Call settings

Last September, Huawei released its latest OS skin, EMUI 11 with a new user interface and latest features to provide an upgraded experience from previous ones. Alongside major changes, minor adjustments are observed after installing this EMUI version.

With the new EMUI version, Huawei always brings new improvements, changes, and enhancements to the features for users to make their life easier. Below you can check the changes that you will see in volume settings and incoming call ringtone after upgrading to EMUI 11 from EMUI 10.1.

Changes on volume settings:

Before receiving EMUI 11, the bell icon is placed at the top of the volume bar, which allows the user to switch sound modes like vibration, silent, and ringing. When you switch sound mode from silent mode, two-volume bars appear for adjusting media and ringtone volumes respectively.

After installing EMUI 11, the bell-shaped icon has disappeared to prevent possible misoperation. In the displayed volume bar, you can drag the slider to adjust the media volume and touch the gear-shaped icon to go to the related setting screen.

Also, when you keep pressing the volume up or down key, the volume bar no longer shows the speaker or sound settings icon.

To switch from silent to sound mode:

  1. Swipe down from the status bar to open the notification panel, and touch the volume setting shortcut.
  2. Touch the gear-shaped icon in the displayed volume bar to go to the Sounds & vibration setting screen.

Changes on incoming call ringtone:

When Pocket mode is enabled, the ringtone volume of incoming calls will gradually increase until it reaches the maximum level. The maximum volume level has been reduced in EMUI 11 to avoid discomfort caused by high-volume ringtones.

When not in Pocket mode, the ringtone volume increase for incoming calls takes effect only when a Bluetooth or regular headset is connected.
