Check the live video of HarmonyOS smartwatch, could launch this year

Huawei has announced that it’ll bring HarmonyOS 2.0 for smart wearables by this year and now the first look at Huawei’s HarmonyOS powered smartwatch has appeared to show us how its UI really likes.

According to Weibo tipster, Changan Digital, Huawei is currently developing a new smartwatch that runs HarmonyOS and may release by the end of this year or early 2021.

There’s also a live video of this watch shared by the tipster, featuring round design and showing its software interface. However, the rest of the watch’s body remained hidden under a PCB like showcase.

Meanwhile, the software system is very identical to the existing Huawei Watch GT 2 series LiteOS and the watch face reveals features such as SpO2, step count, heart rate monitor, sleep tracker, battery level, activity tracker, and more.

The video seems to be recorded from the second day of Huawei’s exhibition at Huawei Developer Conference 2020 (HDC 2020) and it’s part of the live tech session. From the showcase, the watch looks almost completed but there could be some more tuning being done by the Chinese tech giant.

At HDC 2020, Richard Yu, Huawei’s Consumer Business Chief announced, starting September 10, HarmonyOS will open for devices from 128KB – 128MB RAM covering IoT devices such as smart TVs, wearables, cars, and more.

Aside from IoT, Huawei will also open HarmonyOS 2.0 for device start from 128MB – 4GB RAM in April 2021 and later it’ll add the support for over 4GB RAM. This suggests the launch of smartphones and tablets running HarmonyOS in Early 2021, which was also confirmed by Richard during his opening Keynote.

Currently, there’s no official confirmation on the launch of the HarmonyOS smartwatch but we may not have to wait too long to hear an announcement from Huawei.
