Huawei introduces new solution to install third party apps on Huawei phones with Open Source Android

Since the restrictions of Google Mobile Services (GMS) for Huawei smartphones, the company has launched a number of new smartphones. These devices equip Huawei Mobile Services instead of Google applications.

Other than Google Play Store, which is the part of Google Mobile Services, Huawei’s phone comes pre-installed with Huawei’s own App distribution platform – Huawei AppGallery to download the required app.

But Huawei is still growing a number of new developers on its AppGallery and the number of essential apps including Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram are still inaccessible for the users.

Because new Huawei phones run the open-source version of Android, users can still install apps through APK files. However, users of the new phone have to download the applications manually, which is kind of hassle.

To make the app finding process a bit easy, Huawei has launched a new application – Petal Search, that not only allows users to download apps directly from third-party sources but provides more flexibility to find compatible apps.

In work, the user can search “Instagram” > get search results. The results are shown in a similar manner to the AppGallery with the option of installing the application right away.

If the app is available on AppGallery the user will be redirected to the store or it’ll send you to a third-party app platform such as APKPure to download the app.

Other than finding applications, the Petal Search works as an all-rounder search engine providing Daily weather forecasts, top news, live sports scores, Financial news, and more.

You can download the latest version of Petal Search from our application page or from AppGallery.

Note: The app’s availability may vary depending on the Region/Country.
