Huawei U.S. business license get extension through May 15, still not found alternative?

The US administration on Tuesday extended the Huawei’s license of doing business with the American firms until May 15, because they still haven’t found the alternative of the Chinese tech giant.

According to Reuters, the U.S. Commerce Department has issued a series of extensions of the license and had previously extended until April 1.

The commerce department says that the license allows rural carriers to continue to serve customers in some of the most remote areas of the U.S.

While the main reason for this extension is that Huawei provides the best telecom equipment and services at suitable prices, which is hard to get from other providers.

Back in May, the US Commerce Department added Huawei into the Entity-List and imposed trade restrictions that prohibit the company from buying US technologies.

Following the U.S. Entity List, Huawei received a 90 days temporary license to serve existing US customers in telecom sectors and software updates for smartphones, which was expanded for another 90 days in August.

The third reprieve was given in November last year. In February, Huawei got the fourth reprieve with 45 days.

The US alleges Huawei of being a security threat, which the company has repeatedly denied. The Trump administration is also urging other countries to bar Huawei from 5G networks but they denied to do so.
