Breaking: Huawei gets permission to work in UK’s 5G roll-out

On January 28, the UK government confirmed that Huawei can continue to work with its customers to roll out 5G network in the country, despite the enormous pressure from the US.

This new decision was announced at the National Security Council (NSC) chaired by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, where it was agreed that the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) should issue guidance to UK Telecoms operators on the next-gen network security.

According to the information, Huawei can participate only in non-core parts of the 5G network infrastructure and its operating market is suggested to capped at 35% but opened for under review option.

Huawei said it is reassured by the UK government’s confirmation that the company can continue working with customers to keep the 5G roll-out on track.

“This evidence-based decision will result in a more advanced, more secure and more cost-effective telecoms infrastructure that is fit for the future. It gives the UK access to world-leading technology and ensures a competitive market,” said Zhang.
