U.S. senator introduces bill to stop intelligence sharing with nations allowing Huawei

U.S. Senator Tom Cotton on Wednesday introduced a bill that would prevent the US from sharing secret intelligence with allies that allows Huawei in their 5G network development, reports Reuters.

The US accuses that Huawei would use its equipment to spy on consumers under the command of the Chinese state, which Huawei has repeatedly denied.

According to the information, Cotton last month proposed a little-noticed provision in a defense bill signed into law that directs intelligence agencies to consider the use of telecoms and cybersecurity infrastructure provided by “adversaries of the United States, particularly from China and Russia when entering intelligence-sharing agreement with other countries.

This bill is unveiled just days ahead of the upcoming UK decision on Huawei’s participation in the 5G network and could be seen as a new step from the US administration to block Huawei not only in the US but in other countries.
