Huawei to sell 100 million 5G smartphones in China alone, says Analyst

2019 marks as the introduction of the 5G era and more mobile operators around the world are switching to the 5G network. In the meantime, the world’s second-largest smartphone maker – Huawei, is expected to perform a big shipment of 5G smartphones next year.

According to Shoichi Tosaka, chief executive of the Japanese materials and electronics company Taiyo Yuden says that the Chinese tech giant may ship 100 million 5G smartphone units in 2020 alone in China, reported RT.

Tosaka also said Huawei together with ZTE achieved most orders for commercial orders for 5G base stations and components. In Q3, Huawei announced to grab over 60 5G contracts and more than 400,000 base stations are shipped worldwide.

Earlier this year, Huawei introduced its first 5G smartphone – Huawei Mate 20 X 5G in many countries, followed by China-exclusive Huawei Mate 30 5G, Mate 30 Pro 5G, Huawei Mate X 5G foldable phone, and Huawei Nova 6 5G.

Subsidiary – Honor also launched Honor V30 5G and V30 Pro 5G in the Chinese market. To be noted that these 5G smartphones cover different price ranges and different customers, which is responsible for the company’s robust growth on its homeground.

Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei consumer business group said previously that this year Huawei’s global smartphone shipment will be about 230 million units with a 12% on year increase.

Back in October, Huawei announced over 200 million smartphone units shipment, which is 64 days earlier than last year.

However, the company only launched Mate 20 X 5G outside of China around and other of the above mentioned 5G smartphones are yet make their global debut.
