Soon after the US Entity-List, Huawei founder and CEO, Ren Zhenfei came up with an offer to license 5G technology to interested US firms and is a real offer, says a report.

Paul Scanlan, CTO of Huawei’s carrier business group recently told TechRadar that the 5G licensing offer is genuine and anyone can purchase it to compete with us.

“We’ve done it before. In 2003 we licensed our 3G technology to Motorola so it’s nothing new – it’s a genuine offer. If you genuinely don’t trust us and there’s a company capable of doing something with [our IP], then go for it and compete with us.” said Paul.

“As far as the networking equipment is concerned, it’s done. In terms of cooperation with the US, there is limited or no impact on 5G development.”

The official also said, Huawei is capable of making its products without US components but that will bring a crackdown in the industry supply chain and the market access around the world will be shrunk to limited access ahead of 6G.

The US administration alleges Huawei of posing a national security threat and uses secret backdoors in the network equipment. On the other hand, Huawei has completely denied these allegations, saying its equipment is safe to use.

US president is also urging its allies to ban Huawei from participating in the 5G network infrastructure development, of which most of them in Europe denied.
