Huawei Enjoy 80 likely to ditch Snapdragon over a new Kirin chip

Huawei will likely unveil surprising upgrades for the Enjoy 80 series, one of which could be a new Kirin chip. The company is said to ditch the mid-range Snapdragon processors for its Enjoy lineup in favor of self-developed Kirin chips.

The company has used both Kirin and Snapdragon chips for its Enjoy series. For instance, the Enjoy 70 model equips the Kirin 710A 4G chip but the Pro and S-tagged variant runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processors.

Although Huawei may halt using Snapdragon over Kirin chip, starting with the Enjoy 80 series. A Weibo tipster hints that the company is working on a new Kirin 7 series chip that could debut with the Enjoy 80 smartphone by next month.

DigitalChatStation reveals that many new smartphones will debut in January 2025. The list includes Redmi Turbo4, iQOO Z9 Turbo variant, Realme 14 Pro+, and Huawei Enjoy 80. It will bring a new “Kirin 7xxx” chipset on board.

Following the leak, some netizens speculated that the new Kirin chip could be stronger than the Snapdragon 680, delivering better performance in all aspects.

The Enjoy 80 handset was expected to launch this month. Although the tech giant has seemingly swapped the model with Enjoy 70X. Perhaps, the Enjoy 80 may step on the launch stage next month. An official confirmation awaits on this matter.

2025 to show a more self-dependent Huawei?

The Chinese phone maker has ditched some major foreign techs this year for its self-developed products. And the latest leak hints that the company will continue to reduce dependency on more US-based goods next year as well.

New Kirin 7 series could enhance the device’s functioning. It could adopt better cores than the previous-gen processor. The details aren’t clear at the moment though we may hit more new inputs on this topic in the upcoming weeks.
