Huawei Mate X6 foldable launched for global consumers

The wait is over and Huawei has launched the flagship Mate X6 foldable in the global market. After two years of gap, the company has reactivated its folding phone power outside China. Let’s take a deep dive into this new folding handset.

Design:

Huawei Mate X6 has a slimmer and bigger design than the Mate X3 in the global market. It glitters in a shiny silver color and also has a Mate XT-like plain leather variant. Mate X6 enters the global market in three colors: Nebula Red, Black, and Nebula Gray.

The foldable has a dimension of 156.6 x 73.78 x 9.85mm when in the folded state. When unfolded, it becomes 144.04mm wider and 4.6mm thinner. Huawei has worked on the Mate X6 foldable’s form factor, making it durable and slimmer at the same time. It weighs around 239 grams.

Display:

Huawei Mate X6 has two displays: An internal and an External screen. The inner foldable flexible OLED measures 7.93 inches with a resolution of 2440 x 2240 pixels, 417PPI, and a second-gen Kunlun Glass.

On the flip side, the external screen has a 3D quad-curved OLED that expands to 6.45 inches and has a resolution of 2440 x 1080 pixels, and 413 PPI.

Both display panels support a 1-120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate, 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, and 300Hz touch sampling rate (240Hz for the internal screen).

Hinge:

The company has crafted the device’s hinge part with 1900 MPa ultra-high-strength steel that offers a compact yet seamless fold every time. The device also uses a distributed basalt layout for a durable structure.

Software:

Huawei Mate X6 launched in the global market with EMUI 15.0. This is a brand-new version of the EMUI world. The chip info is missing from the official website but as per Chinese tipsters, the foldable equips a 7nm Kirin 9020 paired with Maleoon 920 GPU.

The device further has 12GB RAM and a 512GB storage variant. Speaking of smart features, here’s what Mate X6 brings:

• Easy multitasking: Switch between three apps at the same time and enjoy a boundless view.
• Air Hoops: The interactive gameplay theme on the lock screen requires just throw gestures. You can enjoy playing basketball by tapping twice on the lock screen.
• Lock Screen: Get some new themes for your lock screen in the form of Emoji Crush and Immersive Weather.
• Smart Key: Make your device’s power button a smart key and perform some quick operations in no time.

Camera:

Huawei Mate X6 has landed on the ground with a quad-camera setup. This optical system includes a 50MP primary lens with F1.4-4.0 ten-speed variable aperture, RYYB, and OIS properties. There is a secondary camera in the form of a 40MP ultrawide shooter (F2.2, RYYB). The third one is a 48MP telephoto macro sensor (F3.0 + RYYB + OIS) whereas, the fourth one is a 1.5MP multi-spectral lens.

The multi-spectral lens is a significant addition to the Mate X6 foldable. It maintains color accuracy in every shot regardless of distance or lighting conditions. Your pictures will be a blockbuster shot with brighter details and precise color restoration.

Speaking of the front camera, the Mate X6 internal screen holds an 8MP lens with f2.2 aperture while the external display has an 8MP sensor with f2.4 aperture.

Battery:

Huawei Mate X6 packs a 5110mAh cell with 66W of super-fast charging, 5W wired reverse charging, 50W super-fast wireless charging, and 7.5W wireless reverse charging.

Other features include an IPX8 rating, 2.4GHz and 5 GHz WLAN frequency, Bluetooth 5.2, USB Type-C, NFC support, and multiple sensors (gesture, gravity, barometer, infrared, fingerprint, hall, gyro, compass, ambient light, proximity, laser, color temperature).
