Future flagship Huawei Kirin chips to be named 9030, 9040: Leak
After the Kirin 9010, Huawei introduced the Kirin 9020 chip for its flagship handsets. It seems the company will also follow this pattern for its upcoming SoCs. A new input says that the future Huawei chips could be named Kirin 9030, 9040, and so on.
DigitalChatStation recently unveiled a few parameters of the Kirin 9020 processor. During the description, the tipster said that the Chinese tech giant will upgrade its future flagship Huawei Kirin chips to 9030, 9040, and more.
The tipster mentioned that Huawei achieved a breakthrough in key chip technology. He added that the Kirin 9020 performs much better than the Kirin 9010 SoC.
It has 50% more efficient small cores, 20% faster medium cores, as well as improved large cores. The processor also uses the industry’s first 3GPP R18 5G-A SoC which ensures the expansion of 5G capabilities for devices. Check more details HERE.
The upcoming Huawei Kirin chips are also expected to offer stronger and more efficient performance than the latest version. After the Kirin 9020, netizens expect to see 5nm and 4nm Kirin chipsets in Huawei devices by the next year.
According to the tipster, Huawei is taking small steps in the semiconductor field, resulting in steady progress. The company has been chained by the US sanctions over the years. As a result, it lacks advanced chipmaking tools and technologies.
Despite fewer resources, the tech maker managed to rekindle the Kirin 5G power in 2023 with the Mate 60 series. Huawei further brought Kirin 9010 and many other iterations with the help of SMIC and outdated machinery.
Huawei now aims to become self-reliant in every field. The company is dropping support for foreign components like Android and working on self-developed elements for its products. It would be worth seeing if the OEM achieves its goals in the smartphone and AI chip sectors in the future amid tougher U.S. sanctions.
