Analysts noticed lack of excitement for Huawei Mate 70 series: Report

Huawei Mate 70 series has entered the real world with a range of surprising features but did it spark excitement among consumers in the market? This is a major question that is creating doubt about the company’s progress for the fourth quarter of 2024.

According to Reuters, a few analysts noticed a lack of excitement for Huawei Mate 70 smartphones in the market. This can have a significant impact on the company’s sales revenue in the Chinese smartphone market and may benefit its rivals.

Jefferies analysts said on November 28 that they have observed “much less enthusiasm” for Mate 70 models at online discussions and social media platforms.

The analysts further stated that they now suspect a decline in their sales estimation for Huawei’s newly launched phones. The results weren’t very good for the Pura 70 series as it achieved only some 5 (6.5) million unit shipments. Due to a shrink in enthusiasm, the Mate 70 series is also in the doubt circle.

Analysts said:

“We believe Mate 70’s ultimate sales volume could be below that of Mate 60. It seems our Huawei shipment forecast of 48 million this year has a downside, which is positive for iPhone and other brands.”

Apart from sales estimation, the analysts mentioned that despite ‘powerful models’, the Huawei Mate 70 has brought limited improvements over its predecessors.

While Mate 60 appeared as a big surprise for consumers due to the Kirin 9000s 5G chipset, the successor is unable to obtain much attention at the moment.

Another analyst from Canalys – Toby Zhu said that consumers’ reaction is slightly cool towards Huawei’s new phones. According to him, this is bound to happen after the comeback of the company in its home ground.

However, Toby also expects a slight growth in the Mate 70 series sales over the Mate 60, due to “sufficient flagship production capacity”.

Some analysts also predict that the Huawei Mate 70 series will perform far better than its predecessor in sales. Consumers have been waiting for new devices since months and after its unveiling, they’ll surely show love and support to the lineup.

Another moment of excitement arose after the Huawei Mate 70 series went live for reservations. Long queues and millions of reservations were seen on both offline and online stores regardless of bad weather. Hence, it won’t be right to jump to conclusions this early.
