Android 15 may bring useful notification feature for accessibility menu
Google is working on a useful notification feature for the accessibility menu and it may go official with the future Android 15 updates. This addition will enable users to access the floating accessibility menu easily, without diving into multiple processes.
Before we learn about this feature, let’s understand the main terms!
Accessibility menu: Android phones contain a large on-screen menu that lets users control the device via gestures, buttons, and other features. It eases how you access your device instead of stressing between confusing functions and services.
There are two ways to interact with the accessibility menu. After enabling it via Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility menu, users can either press both volume buttons for three seconds to launch this menu on the screen or enable a floating button.
Floating button usually appears on top of the apps. It will show up as a tiny circle that can move around the screen like chat bubbles. You can adjust its size accordingly.
While the feature is quite helpful, it becomes frustrating sometimes. The drawback of this floating button is – it disappears after the use. Simply put, if you temporarily remove the floating button, you’ll get only one chance to undo it within a few seconds. If you miss this chance, you need to do the enabling process again.
Good News: Google is readying a notification feature for the accessibility menu and its codes have appeared in Android 15. This will show up whenever you remove the floating button from the screen.
Codenamed “Drag to Hide”, the notification feature tells you to ‘tap to show the accessibility button’. As a result, tapping on it will bring back the accessibility button.
The feature is seemingly ready but might take some more time to reach the eligible models. It may go official with the Android 15 QPR2 beta or Android 16.
