Honor Magic 7 Pro will be the high-end variant of the Magic 7 series and it will likely feature an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. The device is said to upgrade the unlocking experience and make it safer and far more secure than its predecessors.

Weibo tipster @DigitalChatStation says that the Honor Magic 7 Pro could use a single-point ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. This tech generally uses sound waves to generate a 3D picture of a user’s fingerprint for screen unlocking purposes.

Let’s learn more about the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor!

A single-point ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is an advanced biometric authentication method. It uses sound waves as an ultrasonic pulse and transmits them against your finger (when placed on the scanner). These pulses line out every minute detail of the fingerprint including ridges and small pores.

Ultrasonic fingerprint scanner can work even if your fingers are dirty or wet. They provide more security over other alternatives and are easier to use on phones.

Optical vs Ultrasonic: Difference

Ultrasonic fingerprint sensors are superior to optical ones! Why? Well, the former generates a 3D image of your fingerprint with all ridges and valleys. Whereas, the latter technology captures only fine lines on your fingertips in a 2D image.

The optical fingerprint scanners often lag and can easily be fooled. But it’s just the opposite with the ultrasonic option. It is faster, more accurate, and much safer.

For reference, Honor Magic 6 Pro equips an optical fingerprint sensor. The option isn’t bad, but some users reported that it takes a couple of tries before unlocking the screen. Many users even recommended face unlock rather than the fingerprint.

Perhaps to avoid this issue with the Magic 7 Pro, Honor may adopt the very useful – ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. The company hasn’t confirmed the news so far. Hence, let’s wait for some official confirmation on this matter.

Honor Magic 7 Pro will likely support 100W fast wired charging. It will also adopt full-speed wireless charging. The device may feature a quad-curve OLED panel with equal depth. The battery would be the same as the Magic 6 Pro (5600mAh).

Regarding the camera details, the tipster said that the primary camera and periscope shooter could be similar to the previous-gen model. Although Honor could use a new OmniVision main camera for the standard model, replacing the OV50H.

More details are on the way and will be clear in the upcoming days.
