Huawei Mate 70 series may use upgraded telephoto macro camera

Huawei Mate 70 series may sport an upgraded camera framework alongside a new telephoto macro camera. Perhaps the photography experience related to close-up shots and zooming capabilities will reach a new standard with the next Mate lineup.

Tipster @SmartPikachu says that all Huawei Mate 70 models may feature an upgraded telephoto macro camera. It will carry the signature circular camera module on the back with a few changes in lens arrangement as per the previous leaks.

For reference, telephoto macro and periscope camera sensors differ from each other. The former lens enables users to zoom in easily on distant objects and click impressive close-up shots, irrespective of the subject’s size. The latter lets you see around an obstacle.

The difference is also visible in magnification. For instance, the periscope lens offers 5x to 10x optical zoom. Although the telephoto can zoom to a 2x or 3x limit. To cover this limitation, the company will likely integrate an improved imaging chip and better macro shots capabilities into the upcoming flagship Mate 70 series.

Notably, the tipster mentioned that the whole system will opt for the telephoto macro camera. It hints that all the Mate 70 models could sport the upgraded camera sensor.

Other than that, a new Mate 70 color variant is also in consideration. Huawei might introduce a distinctive shade this time over the previous-gen models with a simplistic design. As mentioned earlier, the devices may not bring major design upgrades.

A major highlight of the Mate 70 series would be the Kirin chip. Inputs reveal that Huawei could introduce a 5nm processor with its next flagship. If true, it will likely deliver a significant performance boost and a faster functioning experience to users.

An early input also claimed that the next-gen Kirin chip will unlock new AI capabilities for the Mate 70 handsets. The details are unclear but we can expect a notable change in the respective chipset. The company aims to adopt a perfect hardware and software combination for its next creation.

Mate 60 series: Camera

Huawei used an ultra-thin periscope camera technology to enhance zoomed photography. The company will likely raise this zooming capability with the upcoming Mate 70 series.

The Mate 60 series comes with a triple-lens arrangement which varies as per models. The Pro variant features a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and a 48MP periscope shooter.
