Huawei launches Watch GT 5 series in China with TruSense system

On September 24, Huawei launched the Watch GT 5 series in China with an advanced TruSense health system. The new smartwatches also bring a set of interesting features and smart capabilities to enhance the overall user experience.

Huawei has launched two Watch GT 5 series models in China: Standard and Pro. Unlike the predecessor, the new wearable series has a Pro variant in two sizes: 46mm and 42mm. It also holds several exclusive features over the classic edition.

Design: Watch GT 5 comes with a sharp-edge design and elegant colorways. It comes with a geometric touch and is made up of a nano-film stainless steel body. It is waterproof, scratch-resistant, and corrosion-resistant.

Watch GT 5 Pro has two material-based variants. The 46mm variant has the titanium model which has an aerospace-grade titanium alloy body with a sapphire glass. Whereas, the 42mm version has a nano-microcrystalline ceramic alloy body.

Dimensions: Watch GT 5 and 5 Pro differ in dimensions due to their size variants. The former brings 46mm and 41mm versions while the latter has 46mm and 42mm models. You can check the detailed measurements of all variants below.

Huawei Watch GT 5 46mm and 41mm models have a 1.43-inch and 1.32-inch AMOLED display panel respectively. The panels have a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels. The PPI varies for both variants (46mm: 326 PPI; 41mm: 352 PPI)

Battery and Charging

Huawei Watch GT 5 series 46mm has a 14-day battery with maximum usage. It runs for 9 days on normal usage, and 5 days with AOD enabled. On the other hand, the 41/42 mm models have a 7-day battery life. These variants can remain live for 5 and 3 days with regular and AOD use respectively.

Top Features: Watch Faces

Huawei has introduced 11 new watch faces for the standard model and 13 impressive watch faces for the Pro wearable. Users can easily switch between these watch faces or create a personalized one at their convenience.

Emotional Well-being

For the first time, Huawei launched a dedicated stress detection app called Emotional Wellbeing. It smartly recognizes mental as well as emotional states. A cute panda appears on the screen enacting the detected mood to cheer you up. The app works on TruSense data and suggests breathing exercises for relaxation.

TruSense System

The advanced health sensing system ensures that the wearable offers the best health experience to users. It offers faster and more precise report. It has upgraded sensors, reliable health monitoring features, mood detecting capabilities, and more.

Health-based Features:

• ECG Analysis: Offers precise and responsive ECG reports within 30 seconds with the help of improved electrode tech.
• Women’s Health: Estimated times of period, ovulation, and fertility. Users can check these points at a simple glance on the watch.
• Pro-level Sleep Monitor: Keeps track of abnormal breathing during sleep through advanced health indicators.
• Arrhythmia Analysis: Timely reports on A-fib and premature beat risks via PPG sensor.

Note: The ECG feature is currently only present with the Watch GT 5 Pro model.

• RouteDraw feature: A creative way to shape routes.
• Cycling is more fun with the Watch GT 5 as it auto-connects with Huawei Health to display real-time data.
• Stay Fit app: Estimates calories and offers health-related assessments.
• Sunflower Positioning System: Tracks satellite signals to pinpoint positions for outdoor activities.
• Running Analysis: Checks ground contact, and time, and provides tips for injury prevention.
• 100+ workout modes and Activity Rings 2.0 ensure better health at all times.
• Screenshot: Press both buttons on the watch to take the screenshot and save it phone’s gallery app.
• Crescent Window: This small window in the wearable shows flight status, and takeaway progress in real-time. Just raise your wrist and check the info.

Other Specifications:

Both wearables support an accelerometer, gyro, magneto, optical heart rate, barometer, temperature, and ambient light sensors. They have a feature button and a rotating crown. These models are compatible with Android 9+ and iOS 13+ OS(s).

In terms of water resistance, the new smartwatches have qualified for 5ATM. They have an IP69K rating that makes them waterproof and dust-resistant. Other capabilities include NFC, 2.4GHz, WLAN, Bluetooth 5.2, GNSS, speaker, and a mini mic.
