WhatsApp rolls out ‘Channel Category’ feature via new beta update
WhatsApp is testing a significant “Channel Category” feature to enhance the search experience for different channels. By the term, the latest add-on to the application will categorize the Channel section into various topics like Business, Sports, and more.
The company is rolling out the new feature to the iOS device users. If you hold an Apple device in your hands then you can enroll in the TestFlight Beta Program. Doing so will let you experience new improvements and changes to the app in advance.
Speaking of the feature, the Channel Category will organize channels as per content discovery. WhatsApp is bringing seven categories which are Business, Entertainment, Lifestyle, News and Information, Organizations, People, as well as Sports.
Users won’t need to categorize their channels as it solely managed by the WhatsApp team. All you have to do is, enter your favorite category and select the channel.

WhatsApp smartly recognizes all the channels in the app and lists them accordingly into their respective categories. The new feature will deliver an easier way to explore new channels. It offers an organized browsing experience without creating confusion.
Selecting a category will put your main interests at the top for a refined and quick search. Channel Category feature is tagged with the WhatsApp iOS beta 24.14.10.73 version and is rolling out currently to limited testers. However, the company will soon release the feature to more users through a stable version update.
