WhatsApp may soon let users add AI avatar on chat info screen
Virtual Avatar in WhatsApp is an interesting feature and the company is planning to bring this segment to the chat info screen. With a few simple taps, users would be able to add an AI-animated image to their account or in the profile display section.
WhatsApp is working on a new tool that will enable users to add an AI avatar to their profile’s chat info screen. The feature has started rolling out to some Android beta testers with the 2.24.17.10 version through the Google Play Beta Program.
Up to this point, WhatsApp users were able to create an AI avatar and use it as the only profile picture or status reaction. It means you can either choose an image from the gallery or the virtual avatar on the profile display at a time, not together.
But with the latest feature, users can add a virtual avatar alongside their profile picture. Other users would be able to swipe the main image in the chat info screen to look at the new avatar. It’s somewhat similar to the Instagram user profile display.
Inputs further reveal that WhatsApp is planning a significant avatar update that may arrive in the time ahead. It will open more room for avatar customizations. Although the exact details of this update will be confirmed with the upcoming versions.
The new feature reflects a feel of personalization as well as more creativity in WhatsApp. However, it is currently running in the testing phase and may take some time to approach users via a stable rollout.
