WhatsApp readying a new group visibility feature for Community
WhatsApp is rolling out a new beta update for Android device users that shows an essential ‘group visibility’ feature for the Community. Now admins will have a much better way to manage the transparency of the group and its participants.
Apart from AI integration, WhatsApp also focuses on enhancing regular chats and Channel or Community conversations. Found in the Android beta 2.24.17.5, WhatsApp is preparing a significant “group visibility” feature for the Community.
When creating a Community group, admins will now see a new tool on the group info page – Visibility Feature. Tapping on it will pop up a small window on the screen showing two options: Visible and Hidden for your group’s transparency.
- Visible: All participants in the WhatsApp Community will be able to see this group.
- Hidden: The option ensures that the group remains hidden from the general community members. Only invitees and admins will see this group.
The latter option is beneficial when admins want to create a group on a confidential topic or to hold certain important discussions. It maintains privacy well compared to the visible option. It further brings better control to admins’ hands.
Note that this option won’t change after the admins create the group and it gets added to the community. This feature aims to enhance community group management on WhatsApp. It’s in the testing phase but will soon be available to all users.
