Huawei P40 Pro EMUI 14.2

Huawei has recently upgraded the entire P40 series including the Pro models to HarmonyOS 4.2 in China, but there’s no sign of EMUI 14.2 for these devices. So if a major upgrade is possible in the home ground then why not for global users?

P40 Pro is an old yet excellent flagship smartphone in the P series. It has a brilliant design, an amazing camera setup, and runs on the Kirin 990 5G processor.

These features make it compatible with the newest software versions. Probably, that’s why Huawei has greeted P40 Pro users with a major HarmonyOS 4.2 upgrade.

It is good news for Chinese users but comes as nothing short of a shock to global P40 Pro owners. It ultimately raises the question that if the Huawei P40 Pro can get HarmonyOS 4.2 in China then why not EMUI 14.2 upgrade in the global market?

This seems a bit unfair, especially when the global software version is quite equivalent to the Chinese build. HarmonyOS 4.2 also contains themes and productive features just like EMUI 14.2. The changelog of the former is a bit bigger than the latter.

P40 Pro still receives improvement patches from the company worldwide. But now, global users await a major upgrade. EMUI 14.2 upgrade plan currently counts only 13 devices. Yet we expect to soon see new models along with those that are old but compatible with the latest EMUI software version.

HarmonyOS 4.2 adds many interesting features to P40 Pro models. For instance, geometric shapes/fun mood sticker themes for the home and lock screen.

It also improves certain system aspects like visual effects, Celia voice and suggestion apps, and the global search experience. It makes the animation smoother and increases the performance stability of the smartphone.

Not only UI, but HarmonyOS 4.2 also improves app launch, task switching, and more. Features like a WLAN network connection tab, a device-cloud mechanism, an anti-false alarm for malicious apps, and a block in-app ads capability are also available.

Everything combined, HarmonyOS 4.2 is an amazing upgrade for the P40 Pro handsets. But shouldn’t Huawei also EMUI 14.2 to these models to draw an equal level? The company should address this point at least once.
