Huawei has allegedly applied for some patent applications regarding the design of its future foldable phones. These patents reveal new layouts for flip-flop models. Perhaps one of these outlooks could go live with the rumored Nova folding handset.

As 91Mobiles noted, Huawei has listed 5 foldable patent applications on CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration) with a distinct design.

All these patents are for vertical foldable phones. These are completely different as well as interesting over past clamshell designs. Some show asymmetrical circular frames while one of them even has a square-shaped camera bump and cover screen.

The overall design of the flip-flop model remains the same for all the patents. But it’s the camera and the cover screen that might grab consumers’ attention at once.

Let’s explore each patent one by one!

Patent 1: The foldable shows two rings at the top-most on the rear side, arranged horizontally. One will act as the camera framework while the other could be the cover screen. It’s slightly different from Pocket 2 which has vertical circular rings.

Patent 2: The second patent also has the same format as the above one. However, it shows a notable separation between the upper and lower sides of the back panel. It has a bold strip around the upper section of the rear side.

Patent 3: This one is quite interesting. It carries two circular rings but in different sizes. One is quite larger than the other and is suspected to be the cover screen. Both rings are diagonally arranged, giving an impressive look to the device.

Patent 4: The next patent reveals the flip-flop model with square frames at the rear panel. Just like the first, the camera and cover screen appear at the top (horizontally placed) but in a square shape.

Patent 5: This one is similar to the third one. The only difference is the square camera and cover screen bumps. Again, one of these is small while the other one is big, hinting to be the external display of the device.

It’s worth mentioning that none of these patents are official yet. But Huawei could use such types of designs for its future foldable phones with more advanced features.
