AI smartphone shipments could reach 90% by 2030: Huawei
On June 25, Huawei hosted the Global 5G-A Commercial Pilot Program event at 2024 MWC Shanghai and described the significance of AI. One of the Huawei executives said that the AI-powered smartphone shipments could reach around 90% by 2030.
Wang Tao – the Huawei Executive Director shared the company’s plan of integrating AI into networks. The OEM believes that the combination of AI and 5G-A (5G Advanced) will bring three major enhancements to the overall traffic growth.
These three enhancements count for better changes to content generation, interaction methods, and smartphones. Huawei executive added that the AI smartphone shipments already cover 11% of the market and this segment could hit 90% by the year 2030.
Huawei has begun implementing new AI features in its smartphones. The Pura 70 series is the latest example in this matter. It holds several useful smart functionalities that simplify users’ daily operations and enrich the overall device experience.
HarmonyOS NEXT beta which debuted recently also bears various AI capabilities like AI sound repair, AI image enhancements, smart input method system, and more.
Wang Tao says:
“As we look towards 2030, the industry as a whole will need to ramp up efforts to reinforce 5G-A technologies and support healthy development of 5G. This is how we will ensure a prosperous 5G industry in the long-term and make the world a better place.”
The Chinese tech giant also plans to introduce AI in network technology. Huawei says that it will shift itself from a mere solution provider to a co-builder of intelligent networks. This will ultimately help in creating more extensive business opportunities, transform networks, and lead our industry into a new era.
Eric Zhao – the Chief Marketing Officer of Huawei Wireless Solution says that RAN could be the best solution in this subject. It can reshape network O&M, experience, as well as service, boosting the network productivity.
- O&M: RAN can simplify complex network processes. A good example is the copilot product which is an AI-based assistant. It generates solutions based on expert knowledge.
- Experience: RAN will enable networks to improve the experience by saving energy. This operation will depend on real-time sensing and high precision.
- Services: With the real-time evaluation of network resources, new services will be available when needed.
