Huawei certifies new MatePad (MRO-W00) tablet with satellite SMS capability
Huawei has certified a new MatePad tablet with the MRO-W00 model number on the radio approval database. The device’s name is currently absent from the listing. Although we have got our hands on some key features of this tablet.
Let’s explore the details bit by bit.
Inputs reveal that the new Huawei MatePad MRO-W00 tablet received radio approval on June 14, 2024. It is a Bluetooth product and supports wireless LAN as well as spread spectrum communication functionality.
Although the highlight of this device is the ‘Satellite SMS‘ feature. The details showcase that the new MRO-W00 tablet supports the Beidou short messages capability.
With this tablet, consumers would be able to send and receive messages from contacts even when stuck in low network areas or if don’t have a cellular signal.
Judging from the satellite SMS feature, the new tablet could also equip a Kirin 5G chip with enhanced performance efficiency. But things are quite uncertain for now.
Note that Huawei MatePad Pro 11 2024 is the first tablet to support the satellite SMS feature. The device also brought NearLink technology for interruption-free wireless connectivity. It looks like Huawei may add a new variant to this device soon.
Huawei has listed two tablets on the certification database this month. The other tablet carries the AGS6-W00 model number with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip. Perhaps this would be a mid-range tablet with limited features and capabilities.
The official names of these devices are still a mystery. Yet, we may find details in the coming days. It seems Huawei has started preparing new offerings for the second half of this year.
