HarmonyOS 4.0 public beta recruitment begins for these 12 devices
After closed beta activities, HarmonyOS 4.0 public beta recruitment is now open for 12 old Huawei and Honor devices. The list counts some of the 5-year-old models that are still excellent and ready to taste the latest software features and improvements.
The official My Huawei page on Weibo announced the beginning of the HarmonyOS 4.0 public beta recruitment for 12 devices including the Huawei P30 and Mate 20 series. In addition, a few Honor handsets are also sharing the space in this list.
For a while, the old flagship P30 and Mate 20 lineups were getting the HarmonyOS 4.0 software versions. However, these updates were only available to the first batch of 2000 users who have participated in the closed beta testing pool.
As of now, HarmonyOS 4.0 steps into the next testing phase, allowing more phone holders to explore new features ahead of the official rollout. You can check the device list below:

- Huawei Mate 20
- Huawei Mate 20 Pro
- Huawei Mate 20 RS Porsche Design
- Huawei Mate 20X
- Huawei Mate 20X 5G
- Huawei Nova 5 Pro
- Honor 20
- Honor 20 Pro
- Honor V20
- Honor Magic 2
It is worth mentioning that Huawei P30, Mate 20, and Nova 5 Pro users must have the baseline version 3.0.0.168 (3.0.0.170 for Mate 20X 5G). Whereas, the listed Honor device should be running on the 3.0.0.165 build number for installation.
How to register?
To register for the public beta activity, make your way to the My Huawei app > Home > Upgrade Early Access. Fill in your details to participate in the beta testing. After successful submission of the application, the page asks you to “Go to Software Update” to install the new upgrade.
The Weibo post further mentions that the Huawei Watch 3/Pro series, the Watch GT 3 Pro, and the Watch GT 3 Porsche Design are now ready to fetch the official HarmonyOS 4.0 updates with a set of interesting and useful functionalities.
