China’s MIIT enlists Huawei, Tencent, and others for Metaverse working group
China’s top industrial authority – the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently shared a notice to form a group of major tech giants like Huawei, Tencent, NetEase, and others to accelerate the growth of Metaverse in the region.
According to the information, this initiative aims to build an industrial level of excellence for the Metaverse sector. The authorities have already released the merits of Metaverse technology and its architecture for the home ground.
In the latest edition, the MIIT executives have formed a group of strong companies like Huawei, Tencent, Baidu, Ant Group, NetEase, and Sense Time, to boost the Metaverse technology growth in China and take benefits from it.
In September 2023, MIIT published a document describing the working strategy of the Metaverse Standardization. It includes research and analyses of requirements to build and maintain the Metaverse Standard System.
It further consists of a revision of industry standards in Metaverse, Pre-research on applications of Metaverse like manufacturing, and key technical standards in digital identity and virtual digital concept.
Besides, the working group has to look after the standard promotions and talent training. It also needs to actively connect with institutes to timely propose and revise the Metaverse global standards. It is just the beginning and MIIT will announce the list of relevant members by February 18, 2024.
