More Chinese agencies reportedly prohibiting iPhone use

Chinese agencies have once again started prohibiting Apple’s iPhone use. The news first came into the spotlight in September when three of the local ministries restricted their staff from using iPhones and other Apple models in the workplace. It looks like more Chinese firms are joining this campaign.

A major reason behind prohibiting the Apple iPhone use in Chinese agencies is to lessen the dependence on foreign markets. China already took the initiative in this plan and asked several state-belonging sectors to opt for native software and technologies.

This effort will also raise the production of Chinese chips, helping tech giants like Huawei to stand firm in the semiconductor market. In recent times, many Chinese firms and government sectors from eight provinces directed their staff to rely upon local branding rather than Apple.

On the other hand, small-scale industries have issued verbal instructions on this matter. Notably, these firms belong to Zhejiang, Shandong, Liaoning, and central Hebei where the world’s largest iPhone factory is located.

Earlier, the Chinese Foreign Ministry denied these hearings and said that they didn’t propose any such laws or regulations against foreign products. Besides, a report suggested that these prohibitions are verbal and there is no such legal policy on this subject.

However, a spokesperson from the Ministry cited that Apple phones often remain in the headlines for security threats. Although the Chinese government has great importance to both information and network security.

This statement hints that the nation quietly plans to abandon foreign products to a significant extent. Perhaps, this has affected Apple’s shares which went down at $196.50 in extended trading.
