Southeast Asian countries ready to welcome Huawei for their 5G development

Southeast Asian countries are looking to include Huawei to complete their 5G projects to boost economic development and get their hand’s next-gen network.

Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand, members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) have indicated they are willing to let Huawei build their 5G network infrastructure. Additionally, Brunei, Laos, Myanmar, Singapore, and Vietnam share the same vision for the telecom giant, reported Chinadaily.

As of June 25, Huawei has announced that the company has so far gained 50 5G commercial contracts and shipped more than 150,000 base stations.

“Huawei’s 5G technology is generally reputed to be both advanced and relatively more affordable,” said Amalina Anuar, an analyst. “Having a multivendor approach and avoiding exclusion of Huawei is considered a more balanced policy option so (that) ASEAN members don’t have to choose sides.”

The worlds largest telecom equipment maker and second-largest smartphone vendor alleged for nation espionage by the US, of which the company has repeatedly denied. Also, US President Donald Trump has put the company in trade blacklist to be used as a bargaining chip in the US-China trade war.
