Huawei AppGallery sets Android SDK level 30 mandatory for new apps
Huawei has recently published a notification for AppGallery developers to launch new with Android SDK level 30 (Android 11) or above. The company has announced to take this step in order to improve the quality of the mobile apps and safeguard user privacy.
According to the notifications, the new apps for AppGallery should be developed based on API level 30 or a later version of the SDK (targetSdkVersion>=30). The company also confirmed that from October 31, 2023, Huawei will only accept apps with the required SDK. As a consequence, apps without SDK 30 will not be published on AppGallery.
That’s not it, Huawei also telling developers to upgrade their existing apps to the latest API levels. The deadline for this migration process is set for December 31, 2023. This timeline is important because AppGallery won’t accept existing app upgrades.
Apps that don’t comply with Huawei’s latest Android SDK level 30 requirement will be removed from AppGallery gradually throughout the year from January 31, 2024.
